Plagiarism Policy

RAMADANIA: Journal of Islamic Studies and Civilization maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy toward plagiarism in any form. All submitted manuscripts are screened for originality using plagiarism detection software prior to the peer review process.

Definition of Plagiarism:

Plagiarism is defined as the presentation of another person's ideas, words, data, or creative work as one's own without proper attribution. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Verbatim copying of text without quotation marks and citation
  • Paraphrasing another's work without proper acknowledgment
  • Self-plagiarism (recycling one's own previously published work without disclosure)
  • Duplicate submission (submitting the same manuscript to multiple journals simultaneously)
  • Fabrication or manipulation of citations

Similarity Threshold:

Manuscripts with a similarity index exceeding 20% (as detected by Turnitin or iThenticate) will be returned to the author for revision prior to review. A similarity index above 30% may result in immediate rejection. Quotations, reference lists, and properly cited material are excluded from the similarity calculation where technically possible.

Consequences of Plagiarism:

  • Pre-publication: Manuscripts found to contain plagiarism will be immediately rejected and the authors will be notified with a detailed report.
  • Post-publication: If plagiarism is discovered after publication, the article will be retracted in accordance with COPE's Retraction Guidelines, and a formal retraction notice will be published in the journal.
  • Repeat Offenders: Authors found guilty of repeated plagiarism may be banned from submitting to RAMADANIA for a period determined by the editorial board.

The editorial team is committed to ensuring that all published research reflects the highest standards of academic integrity. Authors are strongly encouraged to review their manuscripts thoroughly and use plagiarism-checking tools before submission.
